Case Study - Stonemasons

We are lucky to be able to work with some amazing Stone masons and builders. Frequently we are asked about changes in the stone over time so I have asked some of our customers to help me out.

Dave Hunt (Westcountry Walls) supplied an excellent image of the stone pillars he built in Croyde, Devon. The pillars are set alongside walls that had been built two years previously.

In November 2021 we were particularly busy and were unable to supply the usual walling stone (in the time frame required) to Atlas Stoneworks for a project in Truro. They were extending an existing garden wall and I can safely say that the job they have done with the medium edging stone is first rate.

Dan Murray (DM Stonework) had worked in Newquay building a dry-stone wall outside a residential property. He was able to return approximately 15 months later to recapture the same wall showing the change in the colour of the stone with its beautiful blend and selection of flowering plants.

Hosken Construction (Andy Hosken) had a build which was completed in a number of stages. The House was built and pointed in June 2021, and the wall to the right followed in November 2021. Finally, the wall to the left was completed in August 2022. You can see from the images the blend of the three stages is barely noticeable.

Don’t feel that you can only use stone only outside.

This photo from Pete Osborne – Terry Harris & Sons shows a fabulous example of a unusual internal wall with inset fireplace.
