Case Study - Bigger Gardens

We have been lucky to have been invited to assist with a couple of specific larger garden projects in Devon and Cornwall.

We have been lucky to have been invited to assist with a couple of specific larger garden projects in Devon and Cornwall the first being in early 2019 when we were approached by Steve Compton of Rural Stoneworks to assist with a venture at Rhs Gardens Rosemoor (Great Torrington – Devon).

The task was to rework the spiral garden which sat alongside the hot garden. To create a cool garden filled with around 3000 cool coloured flowers/plants, alongside permeable resin bound paths and interesting water features (rills and a pond). The brief was to “design a landscape to help deal with heavy rainfall and flash flooding”.

A selection of walling and hedging stone was decided upon and supplies in the spring / summer of 2019. The hedging stone was selected for its ease of use and the ability to shape and alter it as use was required.

The garden created is a beautiful contrast between the natural stone, the plants and the smooth water features. It looked amazing when it was first opened in July 2019, as shown in the above pictures, but looks even better now! See… https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/rosemoor/garden-highlights/cool-garden

Many thanks to Neil Hepworth and Chris Gorman for their wonderful photographs as well as Sheila Dearing for her help.

In October of 2022, Marnick Builders and Atlas Stoneworks were at Trebah Garden Nr Falmouth. Welcome to Trebah | Trebah Garden Cornwall
A walled garden was in the process of being developed with block walls being cleverly covered with small hedging stone. I’m really looking forward to see how the area is developed with features and boarders.
