February Insight:

Oh what a busy month we’ve had, especially at Mill Hill. So, we thought we would give you another insight blog, this time into how February has been for us.

Feature Stone - Mill Hill

We recently supplied a large feature stone to a local legend of a landscaper for use in an exciting garden project. The feature stone weighed an eye watering 2.6 tonne and looks like it came from another planet! See Below…

Speaks for itself, doesn’t it.

New Weighbridge! – Mill Hill

We are pleased to say that Mill Hill Quarry are in the process of having a new weighbridge as its predecessor has become obsolete and is estimated to be older than some members of staff. Yikes, that’s over 20 years old, maybe even more, who knows? RTC only acquired Mill Hill Quarry in 2023, so the weighbridge’s history is a mystery… wooooo spooky. We are aiming for it to be completed soon, as the foundation has been laid, so all we need now is the weighbridge itself.

Rough Hardcore – Loading Galor at Mill Hill!

You might think a quarry would be quiet in the cold and wet weather, but when we say we’ve had customers coming in left, right and centre, you would not believe the number. 38 loads of Rough Hardcore/Quarry Fill in one day was at the height of it all. Now that was impressive.

Rough Hardcore/Quarry fill is in high demand during this time of year because it’s quite stoney and earthy, making it ideal to be used to fill holes whilst it’s wet before dryer layers are added on top.

Trebarwith and Trevillett – chugging along nicely

Our Trebarwith and Trevillett quarries have also supplied many slate stone deliveries across Cornwall, with lots of enquiries coming in daily. If you didn’t know already, Trevillett Quarry is one of the few quarries still offering hand-split roofing slate, thanks to our skilled craftsmen.

And that just about sums up our February – stay tuned as we head into March.
